Chiang Rai Pictures

Chiang Rai was one of our last stops in Thailand, a little ways away from all the action in Chiang Mai and well worth the trip. The White Temple was one of our favourite temples we have visited to date, and the locals night market boasted some of the more unique items that we saw around Thailand.

Again, spectacular pictures. The White Temple looks so serene. It must be surreal after the craziness of Bangkok and the like. What is the story with the reaching hands?

Some of your white temple pictures make almost winter like. Is it still used by the people for worship or has it become a tourist attraction? Love the costume on the dancer. MOM

white temple is definitely more of a place of worship than a tourist attraction, but it does serve both crowds quite well!

The whole temple is built around the premise in order to obtain heaven you have to suffer a little bit..

    very cool place!

well Jarrett and Jackie, the white temple far exceeded my expectations, you were right about the detail and theme, even some great ideas for halloween! thank you for taking so many pictures it certainly captures the imagination. interesting concept of suffering on earth to achieve peace in heaven much like the psyche of the whole country. this is definitely one place i would like to visit.
